Recently, the results of International Engineering Mechanics Contest were announced, and NCU achieved good results in the competitions of individual event, team event, group competition, and instructor competition.

The competition team of our university consists of 9 students majoring in engineering mechanics from the School of Architectural Engineering. Among these students, Wan Congcong won the first place in the individual event; Li Chenzhao, Huang Hongtao, Lin Ying, Gu Diwei, and Li Lehui won the second place in the individual event; “First Team of NCU” consists of Shi Rongchun, Li Lehui and Gu Diwei won the second place in the team event; “Second Team of NCU” consists of Jiang Wen, Wan Congcong and Li Chenzhao also won the second place in the team event. NCU won the second place in the group competition, and three instructors of the School of Architectural Engineering, namely Zhang Chun, Lan Zhiwen, Yan Xiaoqing were awarded as the outstanding instructor.

In 2005, International Engineering Mechanics Contest was initiated by several universities of the Russian Federation and will be held in every year. The contest is recognized internationally and attracts universities from Europe, America, Asia and other states. Authorized by the organizer of International Engineering Mechanics Contest, the 2019 International Engineering Mechanics Contest(Asian Region) was held by Hohai University, and more than 300 students from 48 universities including Zhejiang University, Tianjin University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, National Chiao Tung University, National Taiwan Ocean University participated in the competition. The organizing committee of International Engineering Mechanics Contest commissions, namely the Belarusian State University of Transport drafts the examination paper, and the paper inspection and score calculation were conducted under the strict supervision of Belorussian experts. The examination paper is drafted in English, and students are required to answer it in English and master mechanics theory flexibly and apply mathematics knowledge comprehensively.

In recent years, NCU has been promoting international cooperation and communication actively, enhancing the internationalization level of disciplines and widening students’ international horizon. The communication and learning during this contest will improve the teaching level of basic mechanics of NCU and promote the internationalization of mechanics education in our university.
